It seemed whimsical but had an undercurrent laden with some heavier stuff, a bit like this year, which seemed trivial but actually had a hell of a lot going on.

Also have a soft spot for the Faux Pas remix of Paul Dempsey's 'Ramona was a waitress', which embodied the trend of Aussie musos remixing other Aussie musos' stuff. All very fraternal.

Album of the decade: 'Cities' by The Cat Empire Project. Largely overlooked by commercial radio as too challenging (and overlooked by community radio because it came from a band that has had commercial success) it embraced musicality with cheeky lyrics, had its feet on Australian shores with ears to world music and was just too far ahead of its time to attain the success it deserved.

Adeline from WavertonAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17442410894631059062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5186175092498236081.post-29843740347729261112009-12-06T19:23:15.815+11:002009-12-06T19:23:15.815+11:00Can't say I've heard a great deal of Aussi...Can't say I've heard a great deal of Aussie albums from this year, but I really liked Grand Salvo - Soil Creatures.
